Anti-Democratic move by US

That is the news:

"Candoleezza Rice: US is going to devote 75 million dollars to promoting democracy in Iran."

Iran has a dynamic society although many people in West may think otherwise . Political and social norms have changed a lot after the revolution. Reformist and people who struggle for more freedom have tried hard during the last decades. In the other hand, their opponents who almost rule the judicial system, are looking for a good excuse to put the reformists in jail. That piece of news is a good present for hardliners to accuse their opponents of getting money from foreigners and it is a nightmare for all democrat activists.

Hi Pouyan,

First I admire you for your fascinating decision to launch such weblog.

Second I want to remind that one of the best demotradic Iranian goverment in 1953 (with prime minister Dr.Mosadegh) was turned upside down by the efforts of CIA .So as the historical view point people of Iran are very doubtful to accept that USA spend 75 millions! for democrscy in Iran.

Third despite of the good relation of USA with other contries like Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (with the lack of democracy)it is very doubtful that USA decide to spend money to help democracy in general or specialy in midle east.

Best regards.
